Bro Anslem resides in Warri.
I was a member of the Catholic Charismatic student’s fellowship Auchi Poly chapter before coming to UNIBEN in 1989 and I found my way to LCC through an LCC banner. I was born again before my admission.
I saw LCC as a home that developed me spiritually, mentally, emotionally and otherwise and the lifestyle has been carried over to affect souls beyond the wall of St Albert church. I served in Evangelism and follow-up ministry. I had so many memorable experiences in LCC, that great night of AGAPE THEATRE that lead many souls to Christ after dance strange was awesome, the NIFOR picnic that attracted so many students outside LCC that lead to the conversation of some of them and many other experiences. There was enough interaction and sharing and I notice that there was no segregation among LCC brethren.
The life of mummy Jane and mummy Anne were indeed the lives of mothers. I saw a life of acceptance of people, always trying to draw brethren close to themselves. I was once called by mummy Anne to see her in her Hall of residence. When I got there, she gave me a gift of a book on soul winning just to encourage me in my sleep
Follow-up ministry. It was a surprise to me; all I could just do was say, “Thank you.” They were encouragers and we’re not picked by chance. Pastor Bankie taught us that he listened to word tapes every day even when washing clothes. This trait of his, has been carried-over to his ministry outside LCC and has affected so many of us today.
Pastor Courage hardly had time for himself because of his concern for the brethren. He was a model on campus. One other brother I respect in the issue of diligence and dedication to time is bro Kelechi. I noticed times without number that he spent a lot of time in choir practice outside normal fellowship hours and yet he was that best in class.
I married from outside LCC/LOCCAF but LOCCAFites played a major role in my marriage. I once told bro Alex about my relationship with one sister (then a student in one of the campuses at Enugu); after our conversation, he said, “that is your wife”. That was how the journey began today we are happily married. LCC injected into me the first love in action through picnics in NIFOR and OGBA ZOO, birthday celebration in Hall of residence, accommodating one another even when school authorities frowned at it, being accommodated by Benin-based brethren and even getting to know their family members etc.
An average LCC member is trained as a leader. There is a carry-over of the potentials from LCC which prompted the establishment of Catholic Charismatic Renewal in my place in Delta State which later metamorphosed to an interdenominational fellowship due to some frictions. This fellowship has given birth to more than five PFN pastors today. We still gather every December.
Brethren assisted even after the LCC days. The assistance of brethren like Engr Okoro James in SPDC warri helped me in getting a contact Job in SPDC, Dr Emeka Isichei, Sis. Pat & Dr Phillip Ideawor etc cannot be qualified. LOCCAFites have a tremendously great escorts of looking out for LCC student and fresh graduates.
